As Malala Yousafzai started her journey at Oxford, she got bashed for her attire in an unverified picture. The so called social media analysts trolled her for wearing western clothing. One of the comments said, “Now jeans, shoes, soon the dupatta will be off,”
Malala Yousafzai barely survived when she was shot by Taliban in 2012. She is a citizen of Swat and campaigned for girls’ right to education. This was not tolerated by barbaric Talibans who tried to kill her for speaking out.
Malala Yousafzai went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her global campaigning and now she is studying at the best university of the world where she is learning philosophy, politics and economics.
Malala Yousafzai showed her delight for joining Oxford and tweeted, “5 years ago, I was shot in an attempt to stop me from speaking out for girls’ education. Today, I attend my first lectures at Oxford.”
The hostility towards the young woman who stated that one day she would like to lead her country as the Prime Minister, caused outrage among followers.
One of the supporters said, “What Malala wore in UK, is pretty common in Pakistan as well. Stop creating fuss about it. Let others live their life, at least for once.”
It is disheartening to see people defaming her. People should feel proud of her for supporting right for education in front of a global audience. She has received applause worldwide for her activism but she is not supported by people of her own country.
She has been bashed in the past as well. However, she has ignored the haters and will keep ignoring. She is already a global icon and is destined to achieve more in the future as well.
