Due to severe power shortage and hardships faced by households and industries, and they fall short of meeting their targets and consequently decrease in production and hike of prices igniting public uproar. Water and power development authority has recently informed in their press release that, Neelum-Jhelum Dam is almost in the completion phase and it is capable of generating 969 Megawatts. It is very vital for meeting energy crisis and will be supplying power as a Hydroelectricity scheme.
The completion of Neelum-Jhelum Dam has surpassed following stages, installation of Turbines, Generators, Transformers, other electrical and mechanical equipment and Initial testing of installed equipment. Also, water is being filled in reservoir beside, completion of several kilometers long waterway system. This illustrates that infrastructural needs have been completed.
National transmission and dispatch company is supposed to complete installation of all transmission lines soon and thereafter is expected that in the first week of January the process of water filling will be finished.
