Surpassing Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway; Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook has become the third richest person in the world.
Previously listed as 5th richest in the world, the 34 years old Zuckerberg has the assets worth of $81.6 billion compared to $71 billion earlier. The gap between Mark and Buffett is now of $373 million.
The decline of Facebook shares to $152.22 due to controversy related to the handling of data a few months ago has since recovered reaching $203.23 a rise of 2.4% on Friday.
All the three securing the top position of being the worlds richest belong to the technology sector. Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon is ranked as the richest in the world at no.1, followed by Bill Gates Founder of Microsoft with the asset worth of $142 billion and $94.2 billion respectively.
Due to lots of charity Buffett who was once the richest man in the world has come to the fourth position. Around $290 million worth Berkshire Hathaway B-shares have been given away by Buffett since 2006 to Gates foundation. And if counted in today’s context those shares would have worth $54 billion making him the second richest in the world.
Although, Bezos and Zuckerberg have made charitable donations but were not so significant and Zuckerberg has promised to give away 99% of his wealth in donations over his lifetime.
