After a number of series of meetings with senior leaders and military officials, General Lloyd J. Austin III, Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) took off on Wednesday the 19th from Islamabad. Spotlight in the meetings was on the security issues of both the nations. Many senior military and government officials including the Defense Secretary Asif Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood, and Chief of Army Staff General, Raheel Sharif attended the meetings.
It was the second visit of General Austin as CENTCOM commander. After the meeting, he assured support from US side towards Pakistan and said he was keen to improve and strengthen the ties between the two nations by working in collaboration and to achieve the shared interest of both sides. Furthermore, he extended his gratitude to have met his Pakistani coequal.
