Finally, it has been decided by Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) that Mehran VX model will be discontinued from the end of November as the demand has considerably declined. While on other hands the demand for VXR model is very high.

Vendors have been informed that 6734 units will be produced until the end of November and according to Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, Senior Vice-chairman of Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories manufacturers, no loss is expected to the industry as a result of Mehran VX closure.

Suzuki FX model was replaced by Mehran in 1988 and in the year 2012 Pak Suzuki has upgraded all its vehicles to Euro II technology for fuel efficiency.

8966 units of Mehran were produced in the year 1995-96 and this reached 38311 units in the year 2016-17. Production has reached 43896 units in 2017-18.

It has been advised by PSMCL to its vendors that remaining vehicles should be produced with effective material and production management and also avoids any surplus inventory at the time of discontinuation. The letter of discontinuation that has been sent to vendors regarding Mehran VX does not have any information about the fate of Mehran VXR but it is being speculated in the market that it will be gradually replaced by Suzuki Alto 660cc.
