Ali Jehangir Siddiqui has resigned from JS bank as the director and chairman of the board of directors. He is appointed as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (US).
According to JS bank, Mr. Ali Jehangir Siddiqui has resigned with immediate effect. He will take charge of his new office today, 29 May 2018 and will replace Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry the outgoing Pakistani ambassador to Washington.
Diplomats have raised their concerns over the new appointment and it is believed to be politically motivated. Also, cases are pending against him in Islamabad High court and National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Ali was appointed as Ambassador to the US last month by the federal government, he is an investment banking expert by profession and previously has served as special assistant to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi with the status of a state minister.
Earlier he has served as chairman of JS bank and JS private equity. These both belong to Jahangir Siddiqui and Co. parent company owned by his father Jahangir Siddiqui.
Ali has also served as the director of Airblue Airlines, Lucky cement, Azgard Nine and other several companies.
He was also honored by World economic forum (WEF) as a Young global leader in 2014. He holds Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics from Ithaca, New York-based Cornell University, an Ivy League research school.
