Screening and exhibition of Indian movies have been banned by Government of Pakistan on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Azha.
According to official notifications, no cinema in Pakistan would be allowed to play Indian movies during the Eid.
A notification issued by the ministry of information, broadcasting, national history and literary heritage has restricted Pakistan film exhibitor association from showing any foreign movie.
During the Eid large number of audience is attracted toward cinemas and this move has been adopted to promote local movies on such festivals instead of foreign.
All the importers and distributors of foreign films are barred from screening Indian films. The notification states that the ban is applied starting two days ahead of Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Azha and will be in place until two weeks after Eids.
