Each year the defence exhibition to showcase the country’s military capabilities and arms is held. This year’s IDEAS 2016 will have military built hardware, fighting air crafts, tanks, drones, missiles, firearms and APC, etc. It will start this Tuesday at the Karachi Expo Center.
It is speculated that the PM Nawaz is going to inaugurate the 4-day event which will be held under truly tight security. The IDEAS 2016 will have international delegates confirmed by Commodore Tahir Javed who is the Director Media of Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO). There will be 318 firms from 34 countries that will exhibit their products.
Out of all these 261 products would be foreign while 90 delegations would represent a total of 43 countries. 30 of these will be headed by their defence ministers, their chief of defence staff, or services chiefs. The main battle tank Al Khalid will be showcased by Pakistan besides JF-17 Thunder, Super Mushshak, K-8 aircraft, Fast Attacj Carft Missile boats, premium graded military hardware, related technologies, and armored personal carriers too.
This year’s addition
The showcasing of defence equipment of the Turkish and Chinese will be done in separately allotted areas. The number of Russian exhibitors increased this time from last time’s one to this year’s three exhibitors. Russia Rosoboronexport is a big name when it comes to state controlled arm’s import and export. It is an exhibitor this time.
Moreover, 14 MoUs are speculated to be signed to enter the joint venture for promotion of defence exports. Luxembourg, Denmark, Belarus, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Romania, and Nigeria, are this year’ additions to the IDEAS 2016. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Far East will also exhibit their weapons here. Thus, the Commodore Javed claims ideas 2016 as a proud moment for all Pakistanis. It is a clear proof that Pakistan is not behind in defence and its production. The response from the exhibition is always overwhelming internationally. It will boost confidence and success this year through IDEAS 2016 again.
