Tag Heuer, the company behind luxury watches, is now making some serious inroads in the Android Wear market. Its latest watch, the Connected Modular 45, is perhaps the first mainstream modular one Tag Heuer android watch.
The watch’s swappable options go to the core itself. In total, there are more than 4000 different design combinations for the thing, including changeable modules, horns, bracelets, and buckles or 30 different varieties for the face itself.
On the specs side, the Watch comes with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display covered with Sapphire glass, running Android Wear 2.0. The processor here is an Intel Atom Z34XX. Intel has also made its intelligent assistant available, which will keep you updated on reminders and allow you to have a conversation.
Connectivity options include NFC for payments, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, however, exotic options such as heart-rate monitors are not here. The battery life is said to last 30 hours even with ambient sensor running through its paces.
The design is also said to be water-resistant for up to 50 meters. By the time its life is over, you can take out the central module and swap it for that time period’s flagship Tag Heuer watch, be it a Connected or a mechanical model.
No one expected Tag Heuer android watch to be cheap, and the Connected Modular 45 will start at $1650. Tag Heuer also announced an update to the Wear 2.0 for its original 2015 watch, which is a good trend happening almost entirely across the board on the platform.
