Toronto is the capital city of the province of Ontario and the largest city in Canada by population, with 2,731,571 residents in 2016. Current to 2016, the Toronto census metropolitan area (CMA), of which the majority is within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), held a population of 5,928,040, making it Canada’s most populous CMA. Toronto is the anchor of an urban agglomeration, known as the Golden Horseshoe in Southern Ontario, located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. A global city, Toronto is a center of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.

Why Toronto

Toronto

Despite the countless strikes that continue to take a toll on students, Toronto has been recognized as a global leader in education.

The fifth edition of the QS Best Student Cities Ranking, which ranks the best cities in the world for international students, was released Tuesday by analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds.

London is now the top student city in the world, climbing two places from last year’s cities ranking, as a result of increasingly positive responses to QS’s student survey, which asks students about the quality of experience in a city, and their willingness to remain there after graduating.

This year’s ranking saw Toronto claim the 13th overall spot out of 100 cities in the world (which is actually down two spots from 2017).

However, despite the slight drop, Toronto still deserves some serious attention for being the most desirable student city in the world.

This is a reflection of Toronto’s all-around high quality of life and its status as an in-demand destination amongst students worldwide.

Toronto is a big city filled with tons of great opportunities for all kinds of students. From volunteer work to internships to actual jobs, there are plenty of amazing opportunities here in Toronto for creative students. Many schools have their own newspapers, radio stations, and student-run blogs that you can volunteer for, and they’re great ways to get beginner experience in your field.
