Saudi Arabia has shown interest to invest in the solar energy sector in Balochistan province of Pakistan. For this purpose, the government is in talks with the Saudi government.
Omar Ayub Khan power and Petroleum minister has shared in the details that talks are carried out to attract an investment worth of $4 billion to upgrade the energy sector in the province that is deprived of many avenues and opportunities.
The Federal Minister announced the news during the launching ceremony of Economic Survey (2018-19) on Monday.
Balochistan has a huge potential for solar energy generation, providing a reliable and economical source of energy for the masses. The news comes as a relief for the people of Balochistan considering the fact that Balochistan has many a time been deprived of its fair share of projects for the economic and social uplift.
The minister further told that the $5 billion Khalifa Point oil refinery will start its operations by the end of the current fiscal year with the collaboration of Saudi Arabia. The refinery has a capacity of producing 250,000 barrels of oil per day.
