Aamir LiaquatDr. Aamir Liaquat is all set to make a comeback in his political career with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It is ironic to see this change as he once said he is quitting politics for good. Aamir Liaquat is also a self-proclaimed religious scholar.

PTI’s Javed Khan tweeted that, “Dr. Aamir Liaquat to announce joining PTI at a press conference on 25th October 2017 in Karachi.”

PTI Karachi leader Imran Ismail also confirmed the development on his Facebook page.

Aamir Liaquat parted ways with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) last year in August. Altaf Hussain made an anti-Pakistan speech last year, which created a lot of echoes. Rangers detained many MQM leaders and Aamir Liaquat was one of them. This turned out be end of his political career with MQM.

He further claimed that he got death threats from Altaf Hussain and said that, “I am being told I am a bigger traitor than even Mustafa Kamal, and that I will be killed in a more painful manner than Kamal.”

Liaquat has once served as minster for state and religious affairs from 2004 to 2007. This was when Shaukat Aziz was the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

He came across many controversies in his career. He was barred from hosting by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for propagating hate speech. However, he went on with the show.

PTI claims to be a clean party but another controversial figure is about to join their party which might not go well with the image of PTI. It will be interesting to see how the future unfolds for Aamir Liaquat and PTI after this new development.
