E-Court system has been introduced in Quetta with a collaboration of NADRA. Previously, similar courts have been launched in Islamabad and Karachi. The three-member bench heard their cases on its first day on Monday, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa via video link.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Atta Bandial were the other two members of the bench. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said,
After the court vacations, a special bench will hear the cases through video link. By the E-Court system, time and money of people will be saved.
The CJP termed the day historic for the people of Balochistan and promised a dedicated bench for hearing cases through video link. The apex court will also hear cases through a video link from Peshawar.
The first phase of online hearings will continue until July 18.
Due to technical difficulties, the system was launched from the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry.
