For many of us, the subject that touches the accomplishment of goals in our everyday lives is the matter we care the most about. It’s indeed a reason that why I want to write about how we should bring into line our daily tasks to be able to achieve our core goals-as we live in a world of uncertainty and intricacy; and that is why our problems are never clear enough for us to recognize and find a solution to it and further more pinpoints what our goals are anyway.
To achieve goals, whether overcoming geographical obstacles, improving grades to get in the best university, winning battles, working towards a promotion, planning a vacation, or even planning a budget for a designer wear bridal dress, the best way is to make all our goals real by first identifying and then focusing on specific, tangible targets that you would want to achieve.
Every day we go to work, and we work hard and yet we get a feeling as if we are at a loose end in the world and don’t seem to get anywhere worthwhile. The feeling is mutual for all of us, nothing new and nothing anomalous. The reason for feeling this way is also nothing new but everything anomalous. Yes, by anomalous or abnormal I mean is that we don’t spent enough time thinking about what we want from life, and we have not set our formal core goals of life. It’s like we are set out on a major journey with no real idea of our destination.
To achieve an ultimate future, where we want to see ourselves as top-level athletes, successful business-people, and graduates from a top business school or even noble prize winners; we need to trigger off ourselves so we can turn our figment of the imagination of the ideal future into a reality. For this we need a powerful process of goal setting which can help us systematize our time and limited resources so that we can make the very most of our lives.
One technique of setting goals is to plan all the goals in a pyramid shape; setting the main big goal of our life first, and then breaking it down to a couple of years, months, weeks, days and the present day, finally once all the goals are listed in the pyramid shape, we can start working on it to achieve these goals.
Let’s put it this way, we should at least have one defined goal for everything that interests us in our life. For instance what interests me is to have my own fashion outlet. Secondly, for this I would need to set a goal that is directly aligned with my life’s mission; my life’s mission is to be a successful entrepreneur. Thirdly we need create a goal that is high enough to ignite our spirit and motivate us to take action; for me to own my very fashion outlet is a not a high enough goal, but to create a brand name and compete in the international market is a goal high enough to ignite my spirit. Fourthly, we should take at least 10 minutes every day to imagine how wonderful it would be to actually achieve our desired goals; I almost think about it every day while watching fashion shows, or new collection launch of any designer. Lastly and most importantly, we need to take a proper solid step towards the achievement of at least one goal every day; this is the most difficult phase of the whole process of goals attainment since yes I have not aligned my goals yet in a systematic way, to get to this I would need to make a list of sub goals of opening a fashion outlet, which I have not created up till now, and which is the most important one. Hence, lesson learned is that we need to list down our goals in a pyramid shape to get started off with it.
In the process of goal achievement, like mentioned earlier we need to work towards it every day by attaining daily goals. For this it is important to surround ourselves with people who support us in what we are aiming for and what we are doing every day in order to achieve our main purpose. A failing student always ends up with good grades and great performance, when the most understanding teachers and hard working friends surround him. Thus, we need to set up our very own consoling group of people that understand and support us in what we want to accomplish, and encourage us every time we fall. After reading this just try asking yourself; who is my cheering group to support my goal?
