Wagon R will soon be getting a new variant as the Pak Suzuki is mulling the idea of introducing an automatic version in the coming months.

Suzuki launched Wagon R 5 years ago and it is currently only available with manual transmission.

Reports now suggest that Suzuki’s hot-selling hatchback will have an automatic variant like the new Cultus and recently launched 660cc Alto.

The launch date of the automatic Wagon R is yet to be finalized but credible sources claim that Wagon R automatic version will be up for sale by the end of the year.

Currently, Wagon R comes with two variants; VXR and VXL. The VXR is the base variant whereas the VXL comes with additional features.

WagonR is one of Pak Suzuki’s solid performers despite the downturn in the auto industry. According to data released by the PAMA, Suzuki has sold 32,614 WagonR units in the FY2018-2019, an increase of 12% from 29,206 sold in FY2017-2018.

While its competitors, Honda Atlas and Indus Motor Company (Toyota), are saying that they will be stopping production on specific days due to lower sales, Pak Suzuki, on the other hand, has said they will not be lowering production at all.
