Suzuki Cultus is finally off sale as the new Suzuki Cultus model Suzuki Celerio is going to be launched soon replacing the old model. Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) has stopped booking new orders.
Since its introduction in the late 90’s, Suzuki Cultus is one of the few cars available in the market whose model has not changed. Internationally, this car is known as Suzuki Celerio but the new Suzuki Cultus is going to be launched under the same name again.
The orders placed for the old model of Cultus will be delivered on time. The Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers will make parts of the existing model available till February, 6th. The Chairman of the association also said that the new model may have a better “localisation of parts” to keep prices minimal.
Launched in 2000, Suzuki Cultus soon gained popularity replacing Suzuki Khyber. In the first year, the production rate was 4,635 units with sales going to 4,824 units. In the year 2015-2016 , the production rate has gone up to 16,772 while sales have increased to 16,450 units.
According to the company’s website, the New Suzuki Cultus is priced at Rs. 1.124 million while the CNG model costs Rs. 1.199 million.
In October 2016, Pak Suzuki informed the Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production that the company will be replacing Suzuki Cultus in March by introducing a new model called Suzuki Celerio
However, the spokesperson for Pak Suzuki Mr. Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh has denied the claims that there are plans to introduce Suzuki Celerio. He stated that the company plans to launch new Suzuki Cultus in manual VXR and VXL models by the end of April following an automatic version depending on the market demand.
