Dangal movie picked as the best film of 2016 even by critics

Dangal movie is not only Amir Khan’s most content-acclaimed movie but it’s also picked as the best film of 2016.

It has been voted best film of 2016 by critics together through the Film Companion Critic’s Poll. This is a content backed platform run by critic Anupama Chopra. They conducted the year-end poll for the first time and announced the results for five categories. Ram Madhavani was the best director for Neerja Bhanot’s story, an air-hostess who sacrificed her life to save many. ‘Neerja’ was her debut movie that conveyed the hijack story at Karachi, Pakistan to silver screen.

Moreover, Manoj Bajpayee remained the best actor for playing gay professor Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras in movie ‘Aligarh’. The best actress went to Alia Bhatt for her versatility in ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’. The best writers, however, were Shakun Batra and Ayesha Devitre Dhillon for ‘Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921)’. The votes were from Anupama, Rajeev Masand, Bharathi Pradhan, Saibal Chatterjee, Amol Parchure, Rahul Desai, Uday Bhatia, and Nameaa Joshi.

Amir Khan’s Dangal continues to break records at the box office through collections of more than Rs 200 crores. It empowers women to take up wrestling as a sport and is rated 4.5 stars out of 5. Its day 6 but still the collection continues more fiercely than ever. It crossed 150 crores on day 6 and entered over 200 crores the next day. Released on Christmas the director Nitesh Tiwari has given one of the biggest Indian hits.

The movie

Dangal is surely an extraordinary story based on the true life journey of Mahavir Singh Phogat. He has two daughters Geeta and Babita whom he trains to become world-class wrestlers. It is an Amir Khan and Walt Disney Picture production while Amir plays the lead as Mahavir Singh. The daughters are played by Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra respectively. The Phogat girls are truly unstoppable in the ‘Akhaadaa’ and so is the box office collection now.

This movie is the third-highest grossing one after Sultan and Jungle Book with Rs 300.45 and 181.75 crores until day5. Dangal managed Rs 155.35 crores during the first five days. The movie is expected to get into the Amir Khan 300 crores club by the weekend with PK. Dangal has also brought virtual reality to audiences through the release of its 360-degree available view. This will be for knowing how different locations have been made to work behind the movie. Hence, Dangal surely remains one of the most unique experiences in collection, technology, script, concept, and content ever. Amir Khan of course continues to maintain his movie choices legacy by bringing new ideas to the audiences like always.
