In a recent interview, Tom Cruise said that a sequel to his 1986 military action film Top Gun is definitely going to be made – Top Gun 2.
While promoting his latest film The Mummy on an Australian morning TV show Sunrise, Cruise was asked whether rumors about Top Gun 2 were true or not. And his answer was positive, he said he’ll begin shooting for Top Gun 2 probably next year.
Cruise’s character was of an arrogant pilot Maverick in Top Gun. He was one of the top students in US training camp for elite military fighter pilots and had a bitter rivalry with a fellow pilot played by Val Kilmer.
According to film tracker BoxOfficeMojo.com, the Paramount Pictures film launched Cruise’s career as a global action star and the film made more than $350 million globally.
There have been no news regarding Paramount Pictures’ involvement in the sequel of the film.
Jerry Bruckheimer, producer Top Gun tweeted a photo with Tom Cruise captioning it as the 31st anniversary of the opening day of Top Gun.
Back in January 2016 the producer Top Gun tweeted another photo with Tom Cruise saying that he was in New Orleans to meet his old friend to discuss a little Top Gun 2.
