Qatar Airways has planned to start the World’s longest Direct flight ever! Yes, it’s the flight direct from Doha (Qatar) to Auckland (New Zealand).

Akbar Al Baker, CEO Qatar Airways has announced that they plan to gear up for the longest non-stop journey ever. This transition between the two countries shall take about 18.5 hours to reach its worthy destination.

Talking to a local business commodity last week at the Bahrain Air show, the CEO told them that the 259 passenger plane Boeing 777-LR shall be used to go forth the journey. The exact date as to when this first plane shall be flying from is still unknown.

Until this plane flies, Qantas maintains the world’s longest direct flight is from Dallas-Fort Worth to Sydney which is 13,804 km.

Qatar airways with this plan in hand, has to cover a fourteen thousand, five hundred and thirty-nine (14,539) Km distance over a time lapse 1.5 hour greater than the Qantas 16 hours and 55 minute flight duration.

The Emirates group is also planning to route a flight from Dubai to Panama City, Panama this spring, which shall be 17 hours and 35 minutes long.

Earlier Singapore Airlines used to hold the title to the world’s longest flights until 2013. However, the former is in course to regain its title by resuming its 19 hour direct flights from New York to Singapore.
